Quince Tree

Quince tree (Cydonia oblonga, Rosaceae)

French: cognassier (fruit: coign)

The quince tree is a plant of South West Asian origin and is cultivated also on Ibiza. Its fruit, the quince, is not usually eaten raw. But it serves for jams and jellies. The flesh of the fruit is used against inflammations of the throat and intestinal disorders.

The mucus of the whole seeds is used against cough stimulus and has mild laxative properties. Externally it is used against burns, rough skin and hemorrhoids.
