Wild Rocket
Wild Rocket (Eruca vesicaria, Brassicaceae)
English: wild rocket, rucola, arugula
French: roquette
The wild rocket (together with some other plants known by the Italian name rucola, like the white wall-rocket) is widespread in many parts both of Ibiza and the rest of the Mediterranean.
The cruciferous plants (plants of the cabbage family, Brassicaceae) are generally rich in vitamin C, therefore being a remedy for diseases of cold like flu.
The rocket leaves can be used for seasoning salads, and in Italy they are even used for pizzas. Rucola is said to be aphrodisiac. As with almost all plants of this reputation, this effect has never been proved.
