Fennel
Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare, Apiaceae)
Ibicencan: fonoll
French: fenouil
Swedish: fänkål
Fennel is a very frequent plant in abandoned fields and at the edges of roads on Ibiza. It is difficult to transplant it into the garden because of its long root; yet it can be harvested as a wild plant.
Fennel serves for the bronchias and for digestion and it stimulates the production of mother's milk. For all these purposes a tea is prepared out of a teaspoon of seeds per cup of water. The same infusion can be used externally for washing the eyes.
As a vegetable the cultivated form is used.
