Castor Oil Plant
Castor oil plant (Ricinus communis, Euphorbiaceae)
French: ricin commun
The castor oil plant is native to tropical Africa. On Ibiza, Mallorca and Menorca it is found cultivated and naturalized.
The plant itself is very poisonous, especially the seeds (castor beans), which are only used in homeopathy (for example against diarrea). The refined castor oil is void of the poison. It is a strong laxative.
